1v4 He (God) comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. (NLT)
God will be with us no matter what we face in this lifetime. God will bring us a peace that only he can when we face trials of all kinds. But here is the fascinating part. It's not just for our own well being. God comforts us so that we can comfort others. God gives to us so that we can give to others. We truly are blessed so that we can bless others. In doing so, we bless God.
2v14-15 Now wherever we go he uses us to tell others about the Lord and to spread the Good News like a sweet perfume. Our lives are a fragrance presented by Christ to God. (NLT)
Wow, this is just a really cool couple of verses. Thoughts on this verse?

These verses on giving are fascinating. Paul doesn't criticize them for not giving 10%. In fact, he doesn't even mention the 10% rule in either verse. He tells them to give according to what they have. And tells them not to give so much that they suffer from having too little. I have never quite understood pastors who make people feel guilty for not giving 10% of their income. How can you tell a single mom with kids that she doesn't measure up if she is not giving 10% of her income. I have just never understood that way of thinking. Have you had a similar experience?

ReplyDeleteI would never tell anyone to withhold 10% of their income from God. They will miss out on an overflow of blessings.
God doesn't force us to give...He loves a cheerful giver. All income is from God and God has asked us to tithe [which means 10%] back to HIM.
I don't even want to know what our circumstances would look like if we didn't tithe.
Yes, their have been times, thoughts rather of God can we skip it for awhile....this and that are happening and we need the money....but I resisted all to God's glory.
