NT in 40 :: Hebrews (Monday)

Scripture :: Hebrews

Thoughts ::

Bible - New Living Translation

1v2 ...through the Son He made the universe and everything in it.

If God can create such a vast, beautiful, and mysterious world and sustain it through Jesus, why do I have anything to worry about? Why do I get so caught up in the worries of this world when the creator of the universe longs to take care of my needs?

2v14 ...Jesus also became flesh and blood by born in human form.

Jesus understands the difficulties we face in our lifetime. Jesus experienced all that we experience. He knows how to comfort us in our struggles. He desires to walk with us through our pain. He knows because he experienced it. (Compare 4v15)

7v1-28 Any thoughts on the Melchizedek section?

9v22 ...Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.

The death of Jesus is just as important as the resurrection. Without the death, there would be no resurrection. Sometimes I want to gloss over the death of Jesus and jump right to the joy of the resurrection. I have to remind myself of the cross and what Jesus did for me on the cross to realize the price that he paid to get rid of my sin. When I understand the weight of Jesus sacrifice for me, I experience a greater joy in celebrating the resurrection and a greater desire to live exclusively for him. No other false god is willing to lay down their life for others.

11v6 So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith.

Faith is huge in this journey with Christ. Faith is the evidence of our trust in God. Keeping in mind that faith is a harmonious marriage of belief and deeds. You can't separate the two. One without the other is not really faith.

I love the reminder of the stories and examples set forth by those who came before us. The reminder of their faith in God is inspiring and encouraging. God is faithful and will NEVER let us down.
