NT in 40 :: Luke 10:1-20:47 (Tuesday)

Scripture :: Luke 10:1-20:47

Thoughts ::

Bible passages are from the New Living Translation

12v30-31 These things dominate the thoughts of most people, but your Father already knows your needs. He will give you all you need from day to day if you make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.

God knows what we need. Therefore, we do not need to waste time and energy pursuing these things. We pursue the Kingdom of God with all our might and God will provide what we need.

13v17 This shamed his enemies. And all the people rejoiced at the wonderful things he did.

I want to be able to rejoice at all that God is doing. I don't want to become envious or bitter when God moves in other churches or other people's lives. I want to praise God when he blesses other churches and other people and thank Him for what he is doing. Lord, please help me not to become jealous of the success of others. Rather, help me to celebrate wherever your spirit is moving!

18v1 One day Jesus told his disciples a story to illustrate their need for constant prayer and to show them that they must never give up.

In my relationship with my wife, sometimes we schedule a specific time to go out alone and talk with each other. But most of the time we routinely talk throughout the day. Prayer is similar. We can set aside and schedule time to be in conversation with God. We can also make prayer a constant conversation with God throughout the day. By the way, that means that not only do we speak but that we also take time to listen.

18v39 The crowds ahead of Jesus tried to hush the man, but he only shouted louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"

I love this verse. The crowds tried to silence this man. They tried to drown out his voice but it caused him to shout all the louder. When life happens and situations tend to overpower our cries to God, may we shout even louder that God may hear us!
